St George's Day Homily 2023

This year the Feast of St George was transferred to Monday 24th April 2023, to allow for the fact that would ordinarily have fallen on a Sunday in Eastertide. The Cathedral Clergy and Chapter celebrated Mass in the Metropolitan Cathedral of St George

Canon Michael O'Dea who was the Principle Celebrant, and is a member of the Cathedral Chapter, also gave the homily, in which he revealed that, like the Cathedral Dean, he was a 'Cathedral boy', and that returning felt like coming home.

During his homily, Canon O'Dea explained that in St George we can see the perfect Christian: 'a faithful, brave, kind and compassionate man' and it is good to look to St George for the courage to persevere, and seek the grace to transform our weaknesses through Christ.
