Pray for Pope Leo XIV
Habemus Papam! We have a Pope!

On Thursday 8 May, Robert Prevost was elected as Pope by the College of Cardinals.
Choosing the name Pope Leo XIV, our new Holy Father’s first words as he greeted the world from the Central Loggia of St Peter’s Basilica were:
“Peace be with you! Dearest brothers and sisters, this was the first greeting of the risen Christ, the good shepherd who gave His life for the flock of God. I, too, would like this greeting of peace to enter your hearts”
Pope Leo XIV is the 266th successor of St Peter and the 267th Bishop of Rome. He is an Augustinian and the first from the Order to be elected as Pope. He is also the first American to be chosen.
In his address to the world, Pope Leo XIV said “we are disciples of Christ, Christ goes before us, and the world needs His light”. The Holy Father emphasised God’s love for the world: “God loves us, all of us, evil will not prevail. We are all in the hands of God”.
Closing his address, Pope Leo XIV asked for Our Lady’s intercession, stating that the Blessed Virgin Mary always wants to help us:
“Our blessed mother Mary always wants to walk with us, be close to us, she always wants to help us with her intercession and her love. So let us pray together for this mission, and for all of the Church, and for peace in the world”.
Please join us in praying for Pope Leo XIV.
Long live the Pope!
