We are currently looking for a new Priests’ Welfare & Wellbeing Officer to join our team.  We are jointly responsible for the welfare & wellbeing all sick and retired priests within the Diocese.  We have one role each for South East London, South West London and Kent and we are recruiting currently for someone to cover the Kent area.  We ideally would like someone already living in Kent, so that they are easily accessible for visiting.

The key purpose of the role is to ensure that retired and sick priests (of any age) of the Diocese receive individual holistic support to maximise their wellbeing, through understanding their needs, facilitating the services / support provided for them and recommending changes to their care arrangements as necessary.  To achieve this the job holder will liaise with the community healthcare teams, work closely with senior and local clergy and Diocesan Central Services to deal with pastoral, , property and other needs. This will include for the retired Clergy understanding the state benefits they are entitled and/or signposting them for assistance.  The team members work jointly on various projects and also provide cover for each other as needed.

The ideal candidate will have a social work or healthcare background and have a good understanding of how health and social care works in practice.  Knowledge of the benefits system would also be very useful.  Proven experience of safeguarding protocols and other governance issues related to the elderly and sick is essential.  A competent user of IT with good communication skills is also essential.

We would ideally like someone to do 3 days per week, but would consider 2 days per week for the right candidate.  Full time salary (pro-rated for part time) would start from £38,000 per annum to £42,000 per annum depending on skills and experience.
