Parish Finance Support Assistant (Multisite bookkeeping)

Job Type- Full Time, Monday- Friday, 35 hours per week. This role will include being office based and travelling across London/Kent. There is some flexibility to offer some hybrid working. We will also consider a job share

Salary Range- £33-£36k per annum, dependant on skills and experience

Within the Archdiocese the financing of Church activities is associated with 175 parishes, 170 schools and a number of central agencies involved with education, youth work, safeguarding and other specialised functions.  The Archdiocese is a charitable incorporated company (CIO), managed by a Trustee Board comprising clerical and lay Trustees.

The Parish Finance Support Assistant (PFSA) will be responsible for providing support to our Parishes and being the first point of contact for all financial matters.

You will work to ensure that all needs are met and any issues are resolved by the central team where appropriate, or giving a steer on what responsibility properly resides at the Parish level. The PFSA will also provide feedback and suggestions to finance teams on how to improve their services and performance.

The successful PFSA will have a broad knowledge of all aspects of finance, as well as strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. The Finance team is a small team and all team members are expected to ‘muck in’ and help with any finance related work as needed.

Essential skills required:

A broad experience of finance work, particularly bookkeeping

Experience of cloud-based accounting systems

Good knowledge of IT Skills, especially email, Word and Excel

Excellent communication skills at all levels

This is a full-time position partly based at Bowen House in London SE1, and will also involve regular travel across Parishes in London and Kent. We could also offer some flexibility to work from home.  Starting salary £33,000-36,000 depending on skills and experience.
