Eucharistic adoration is why I became a priest, Fr Bart Dudek

Parish priest of St Thomas More in Dulwich, Father Bartłomiej Dudek, shares his love of Eucharistic adoration

In a powerful interview about Eucharistic adoration, Fr Bart Dudek shares how Eucharistic adoration led to his vocation to the Priesthood.

Fr Bart said “if it wasn’t for Eucharistic adoration, I am not sure I would have become a priest”, this is because it was in adoration when he “heard the voice of Jesus for real”.

The parish priest for St Thomas More in Dulwich, Fr Bart, said at first he “wasn’t quite sure” what the voice was, as he “was not used it”. “I was “like a young Samuel (1 Samuel 3) who heard the voice, but I wasn’t quite sure what was happening” he said. But this profound moment, Fr Bart explains, “was the beginning of my real faith”.

It was “the reality of being with Jesus” which was so transformative for Fr Bart, who added that he wouldn’t be “where I am if it wasn’t for Eucharistic adoration”.

In the interview posted on YouTube, which is part of the Archdiocese of Southwark’s hope in adoration campaign to promote Eucharistic adoration, Fr Bart said the most important part of adoration “is the awareness that Jesus is there”.

On advice for spending time in adoration, Fr Bart said pray to “the Holy Spirit for the awareness and inspiration and faith that Jesus is there and you are in front of him”.

Life can get really busy, but adoration is an opportunity to spend time with God and speak to the Lord “face to face” Fr Bart stated. Expanding on this point, Fr Bart said adoration is “like a direct line to God” and a place where “we can be ourselves in front of the Lord”.

Fr Bart also spoke about the transformative impact Eucharistic adoration can have on parish life. He said “in parishes where I can see the transformation of the people, of parish life, of the spirit of the parish, it is because of Eucharistic adoration”.

Summing up the power of Eucharistic adoration, Fr Bart said “I can only say that from my experience, there is probably not a better thing that we can do in our spiritual life” than “being with the Lord” in the Blessed Sacrament.
