Caritas Southwark aims to strengthen foodbank schemes in parishes, thereby supporting those who are struggling locally with low income and financial restrictions.
The cost of living is taking its toll on many sections of society at the present time, with over 2.1 million emergency food parcels distributed by the Trussell Trust to those in need between 1 April 2021 and 31 March 2022. Compared to five years ago, this represents an 81% increase in the need for food banks.
