The Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion

St George's Cathedral Website

On Saturday 5th March at 12.30 pm, the Archdiocese of Southwark will be holding its first Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion service in St George’s Cathedral since the start of the pandemic.

Supported by catechists and sponsors, catechumens (those receiving instruction in the faith to prepare for Baptism, Holy Communion or Confirmation) indicate their willingness to embrace God’s invitation to Christian discipleship and communion with the Catholic Church, after a period of instruction. In turn, the Church ‘elects’ the catechumens to receive these Sacraments of Initiation.
This is an important step in the faith journey of many people: please take a moment to pray for those who will be elected as we head towards the First Sunday in Lent.
Those wishing to join the service are welcome in person or online.

Attendance in Person

Please note that this service is expected to be busy: anyone wishing to join in person is asked to be seated by 12 noon.  Please give seating precedence to Catechumens, Candidates and Sponsors. Thank you,
