New CD of Taizé Chant tops charts

This CD topped both the weekly chart at Classic FM and WH Smith's classical chart in late July.

Saint Thomas's Music Group, Sevenoaks, was augmented by several young professional singers and instrumentalists for the recording of its latest CD of the Taizé Chants. They were under the direction of Margaret Rizza, who formed the Group in 1989 and has herself composed much meditative music for the liturgy and prayer groups. Margaret herself wrote the accompaniment for this recording.

The Group had taken part in BBC's Songs of Praise in July this year. The Programme was held in tribute to Brother Roger of Taizé, whose murder shocked the world in August 2005.

Saint Thomas's Music Group, now under the direction of Angela Simmonds, leads the sung Mass once a month at Saint Thomas of Canterbury Church, Sevenoaks.
