Seminaries welcome new Southwark students

2006 - A good year for seminary entrants

A warm welcome was given to the men from Southwark who this September embarked on their training for the priesthood.

Archbishop Kevin has accepted five men to begin their course of studies at Saint John's Seminary, Wonersh, and three to spend an introductory year (known as the 'Propaedeutic Year') at the English College in Valladolid.

Saint John's Seminary, Wonersh

Those starting at Wonersh:

Kurt Barragan (25) - Chessington
Nicholaus Oladele Craig (32) - Thamesmead (originally from Nigeria)
Jonathon Routh (42) - Canterbury
Jason Thomas (27) - Sydenham
Stephen Whittaker (23) - Surbiton
(Stephen, originally from Stockport, has completed the Introductory Year at Valladolid.)

Those starting at Valladolid:

Samuel Davey (21) - New Addington
Thomas Lynch (21) - Clapham Park
William Walter (23) - Sevenoaks

These eight men bring us up to a total of sixteen seminarians currently studying for the priesthood in Southwark. Please keep them in your prayers and pray, too, for an increase of vocations in our diocese.
