SACRED - Exhibition of Religious Texts

Christian, Jewish and Muslim texts at British Library

An exhibition of key Christian, Jewish and Muslim books and scrolls is being held at the British Library from 27th April until 23rd September 2007. The collection of 202 texts contains some of the finest manuscripts produced by these religions.

A programme of talks, lectures, debates and concerts has been arranged to accompany the exhibition. See programme

The first of these events took place at the British Library on Monday, 30th April when Lord Melvyn Bragg hosted a discussion 'What does it mean to have faith in 2007?'  The panellists were Archbishop Kevin (who is Chairman of the Department of Dialogue and Unity of the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales). Dr Rowan Williams (Archbishop of Canterbury), Sir Jonathan Sacks (Chief Rabbi) and Moulana Shahid Raza (Director of the Imams and Mosques Council of the UK).

Before the discussion the panellists were given a tour of the exhibition.
