at present before Parliament.

Please ensure that your voice is heard

Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill.

Please ask them to vote against:

The Government wants to change the law to allow,
among other things, more embryonic stem cell research.
Although not included in the Bill, some MP’s will be using this opportunity to try to
change the abortion laws as well.

Ann Widdecombe says ‘It is a scandal that there are now
200,000 abortions every year (600 every day) in the UK alone,
and with growing awareness that premature babies
have a much greater chance of survival than ever before,
a majority of people in the UK want to see the abortion laws tightened up’.

The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill has been going through the House of Lords, and will soon get to the House of Commons to be voted on by MPs.

Recent surveys have shown that 80% of people believe there are too many abortions taking place in the UK and that the 24 week limit should be lowered.

Among the more controversial aspects of the bill is a proposal
to allow scientists to create human and animal mixed hybrid embryos
for experimentation purposes.

There is also a proposal to remove the current provision ensuring IVF clinics
have regard for the need for a father.
This will mean that a child, resulting from IVF treatment
could by law, be prevented from having any knowledge of,
or even legal recognition of having a father.

The All Party Parliamentary Pro-Life group, of which Ann Widdecombe is a member,
is vehemently opposing these aspects of the bill.

This campaign is supported by the LIFE, CARE and Right to Life organisations.
