The Commission for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation held its seventh Assembly on Saturday, 20th October 2007, in the Amigo Hall.
Participants included deanery representatives, clergy, religious, agency representatives and others living and working in the diocese. Archbishop Kevin attended for part of the day.
The morning was spent looking back over the three and a half years since the Commission adopted its new diocesan-wide structure. It took as its theme: 'Remember the past with gratitude, live in the present with enthusiasm, look to the future with hope' from Pope John Paul II's apostolic letter 'Novo Millennio Ineunte' (At the beginning of the New Millennium).
To help participants in their reflection and evaluation the meeting was facilitated by Father John O'Toole, Director of the Christian Education Centre.
The afternoon saw a change of theme with a talk from David Jackson, Interfaith Coordinator for the Diocese of Leeds, who spoke on 'Offering the hand of friendship to other faiths - a practical approach'.
