The Southwark Justice and Peace Commission held its Autumn Assembly at the Amigo Hall on Saturday, 21st October. The meeting explored the impact of the Transatlantic Slave Trade and its legacies and looked at some of the forms of slavery that exist today.
Father Michael Scanlon, Chairman of the Commission, welcomed the delegates to the Assembly, which was being held nearly 200 years since the Abolition of the Transatlantic Slave Trade in 1807.
But in a series of talks, the speakers described how slavery in its many forms still blights the lives of many.
Richard Reddie, Project Director of set all free, set the scene.

Much discussion and sharing took place during the day with ideas for action and involvement being put forward at the final session.
