An Act of Remembrance was held in the Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park, just opposite St George's Cathedral, on Sunday, 27th January 2008. This was the day that Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated by soldiers of the Soviet Union in the First Army of the Ukrainian Front under Marshal Koniev in 1945.

At 11:00 am there was a procession to Southwark Council's Memorial Tree for a Service conducted by Rabbi Alan Greenbat.
