Formation for the Permanent Diaconate is a process that can take up to five years from initial enquiry, including discernment and preparation. For those considering a possible vocation to the diaconate, or for Parish Priests and others who wish know something about the process, there is an initial flyer available giving the basic outline of the programme. For further information please contact the Director of Formation for the Permanent Diaconate or the Assistant Director for your pastoral area. Please click on the link below for a copy of the flyer.

Diocesan Diaconal days

These days are intended primarily for ordained deacons working within the Archdiocese and are mandatory for the first three years following ordination.

The contact for information on and bookings of DDD’s is the Assistant Director of Formation for the pastoral area in which the event is taking place (see Contacts Page)

All Deacons are required to make a retreat at least once every two years. To assist with this the Permanent Diaconate Team will organise one retreat each year.

The main contact for information on and booking of the retreat is Deacon John Letley (see Contacts Page)
